Once the world was overburdened by the unnecessary defense force of different kings who were actually demons but were posing themselves as the royal order.
At that time, the whole world became perturbed and the predominating deity of this earth known as Bhumi went to see lord Brahma to tell her calamities due to the demoniac kings. Bhumi assumed the shape of a cow and presented herself before lord Brahma with tears in her eyes.

After hearing lord Brahma became much aggrieved and he at once started for the ocean of milk where the supreme personality of godhead, Ksirodakasayi Vishnu resides. He is the supreme personality of godhead through whom all the incarnation within this universe appear. Lord Brahma along with all the demigods headed by lord Shiva and Bhumi recited Purusa-sukta, the standard prayer to appease the supreme personality of godhead. When they hear no response, lord Brahma personally sits in meditation and then there was a message transmission from Lord Vishnu to Brahma.

The system of receiving vedic knowledge is first received by Brahma from the supreme personality of godhead, through the medium of the heart as stated in the beginning of the Srimad Bhagavatam: "tene Brahma hrida".
Then lord Brahma broadcast the message to the demigods for their immediate action.

The message was that the supreme personality of godhead will appear on the earth very soon as the eighth child of Vasudeva and Devaki, and as long as he remains on the earth planet to execute his mission of annihilating the demons and establishing the devotees, the demigods should also remain there to assist him. They should all immediately take birth in the family of Yadu dynasty wherein the Lord would also appear in due course of time along with the plenary portion of Lord Krishna, Ananta, and external potency of Vishnu (Maya) would also appear just to execute the purpose of the supreme Lord.

The family in which Krishna appeared is called Yadu dynasty. This Yadu dynasty belongs to the family descending from Soma, the god in the moon planet. There are two different ksatriya families of the royal order, one descending from the king of the moon planet and the other descending from the king of the sun planet .

Whenever the supreme personality of godhead appears, He generally appears in the ksatriya family because he has to establish religious principles. The ksatriya family is the protector of the human race. According to the vedic system when Krishna appears, all His planery expansions
also appears with Him.

Vasudeva and Devaki, the newly wedded couple, were going home on their chariot driven by Devaki’s brother Kamsa, when suddenly a miraculous sound vibrate from the sky which especially announced to Kamsa: he was such a fool to drive the chariot of his sister and brother-in-law, because he didn’t know the eighth child of his sister Devaki would kill him.

Immediately after hearing the prophecy from the sky, Kamsa became fearful and tries to kill Devaki, but Vasudeva comes in action to pacify Kamsa.
Kamsa becomes satisfied by the action of Vasudeva and was surprised to see Vasudeva keeping his promise. Kamsa becomes more compassionate.
But after being informed by Narada about the appearance of the demigods in the different families, Kamsa at once becomes alert . He understood that since the demigods had already appeared, Lord Vishnu must be coming soon. He at once arrested both his brother-in-law Vasudeva and Devaki and put them behind prison bars.
Within the prison, shackled in iron chains,Vasudeva and Devaki gave birth to male child year after year.

Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva, accompanied by great sages like Narada and by many other demigods prayed to the Lord in this way: "Our dear Lord, You are appearing as the best of Yadu dynasty and we are offering our respectful humble obeisances unto Your lotus feet. Before this appearance, You also appeared as the fish incarnation, the tortoise incarnation, as king Ramachandra, as Parasurama and many other incarnation.

You appeared just to protect the devotees and we request You in Your present appearance as the supreme personality of Godhead Himself.

After His arrangement, the supreme personality of Godhead Krishna Who is always ready to place his full potencies in His unalloyed devotees, extended as the Lord of the whole creation.
The Lord’s appearance or birth is not like that of an ordinary man who is forced to accept a material body according to his past deeds. He appears out of his own sweet pleasure .

At the time of Krishna’s birth, the planetary system were automatically adjusted so that everything become auspicious. The astrological influence of the star known as Rohini was predominant because this star is considered to be very auspicious which is under the direct supervision of Brahma.

When thing were adjusted like this, Lord Vishnu Who is residing within the heart of every living entity appeared in the darkness of night as the supreme personality of Godhead before Devaki.
Vasudeva saw that wonderful child born as a baby with four hands, holding a counchshell, club, disc and lotus flower decorated with the mark of srivatsa, wearing the jeweled necklace of kaustubha stone, dressed in yellow silk, appearing dazzling like a bright blackish cloud, wearing a helmet beducted with vaidurya stone, valuable bracelets, earrings and similar other ornaments all over his body and an abundance of hair on his head.

Both Vasudeva and Devaki were struck with wander and was convinced that the newborn child was the supreme personality of Godhead Himself. They bowed down with folded hands and began to offer their prayers.

The supreme personality of Godhead knew the concerned of Devaki about him and afraid of Kamsa, therefore He orders Vasudeva to take Him immediately to Gokula and replace Him with the daughter who has just been born to Yasoda.

After having spoken in the presence of His father and mother, the Lord tuned Himself into an ordinary child and remained silent.

In the caitanya-caritamrita it is said that Krishna is just like sunlight and where ever there is Krishna, the illusory energy, which is compared to darkness, cannot remain.

When Vasudeva was carrying Krishna, the darkness of the night disappeared. All the prison doors automatically opened. Lord Sesa in a shape of a serpent spread His hood over the head of Vasudeva so that he would not be hampered by rainfall. Yamuna was roaring with waves and that the whole span was full of foam, still in that furious features the river gave passage to Vasudeva to cross.

Vasudeva went to the place of Nanda maharaj in Gokula, and without difficulty he exchanged his son taking away the baby girl newly born in the house of Yasoda.
Although Krishna was the real son of Vasudeva and Devaki, because of Kamsas atrocious activities Vasudeva could not enjoy the birth ceremony of his son, but Nanda maharaj, the foster father, celebrated the birth ceremony of Krishna very joyfully.
